Imam Al-Zarnuji’s Thoughts on Islamic Education and Their Relevance to Contemporary Islamic Education

This article aims to examine the educational thought of Imam al-Zarnuji and its relevance to modern Islamic education. The study utilizes various data sources, including books and journals related to the topic. Data collection was conducted through searches of electronic journal databases and bibliographic analysis specifically by reviewing references from relevant sources such as books and scholarly journals. Content analysis was employed to analyze the data. The findings reveal that Imam al-Zarnuji’s educational ideas are rooted in the text Ta'limul Muta'allim, which addresses various aspects of education, including learning objectives, educator characteristics, criteria for students, and curriculum structure. The concepts presented in the text remain relevant to contemporary Islamic education. Imam al-Zarnuji’s thought can be categorized as part of a conservative-religious tradition that nonetheless maintains a positive and active approach.
