School-Based Management (SBM) is a strategic approach to educational decentralization aimed at enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of education management at the school level. This study examines the implementation of SBM and its impact on the quality of education, specifically within the context of schools in Indonesia. A qualitative literature review method was employed. The findings indicate that the implementation of SBM has significantly contributed to increased community participation, improved resource management, and greater school accountability. However, various challenges—such as limited managerial capacity among school principals, resistance to change, and a lack of policy support—continue to hinder the optimal implementation of SBM.
