Al-Afkar, Journal for Islamic Studies (P-ISSN 2614-4883 and E-ISSN 2614-4905) is the journal published biannually by Mutual Cooperation among STAI DR. HHEZ. Muttaqien Purwakarta, Fakultas Agama Islam Universitas Wiraloda, and Asosiasi Dosen DPK UIN Sunang Gunung Djati Bandung.
The journal puts emphasis on aspects related to Islamic studies, with special reference to Islamic law, Islamic education, Islamic politics, society, Islamic philosophy, Quran and hadith, and theology. Ulul Albab has been accredited (Sinta 4) by The Ministry of Research Tecnology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia (SK Dirjen Penguatan Riset dan Pengembangan Kementerian Riset, Teknologi, dan Pendidikan Tinggi SK No: B/4130/E5/E5.2.1/2019). The languages used in this journal are Indonesia, English, and Arabic.
This journal is an open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access.

al-Afkar: Journal for Islamic Studies focus on publishing original empirical research articles and theoretical reviews of Islamic Studies, it covers various issues on the Islamic studies within such number of fields as Islamic Education, Islamic thought, Islamic law, political Islam, and Islamic economics from social and cultural perspectives and content analysis from al-Qur’an and Hadist.
 In other than forementioned field in Islamic Studies, al-Afkar, Journal for Islamic Studies also accepts articles which cover the topic on the cross section between Islam Studies and other scientific field, such as sociology, law, economics, and others. The focus is to provide readers with a better understanding about islamic studies and present the developments through the publication of articles and book reviews.
al-Afkar, Journal for Islamic Studies Published 2 (two) times annually, on January and July. Each of the issue has 10 articles both on conceptual article and research article. al-Afkar, Journal for Islamic Studies published in Bahasa Indonesia, but English-written articles are also welcomed.

This journal has been ACCREDITED by National Journal Accreditation (ARJUNA) Managed by Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, Republic Indonesia with Fourth Grade (Peringkat 4, Sinta 4). The accreditation decision also inserted within SK No: B/4130/E5/E5.2.1/2019
