Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the RADEC learning model on the development of students' critical thinking skills in the Pancasila Education subject at SMP Negeri 1 Jati Agung. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental research design. The population of this study consisted of all eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Jati Agung totaling 237 students. The sample consisted of 59 students selected using a purposive sampling technique, with class VIII A as the experimental class using the RADEC learning model and class VIII B as the control class using the discovery learning model. The data analysis technique used was the independent sample t-test to determine the difference in critical thinking skills between the experimental and control classes. The results showed that the significance value (2-tailed) was 0.000 < 0.05 with a t-count value of 4.900 greater than the t-table value of 2.002. Thus, it can be concluded that there is an effect of the RADEC learning model on the development of students' critical thinking skills in the Pancasila Education subject. The results of the N-Gain Score analysis showed that the average increase in critical thinking skills in the experimental class was 62.2516 or 62.2% in the moderately effective category, while the control class was 38.9438 or 38.9% in the ineffective category. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of the RADEC learning model in class VIII A is quite effective in significantly improving students' critical thinking skills compared to the use of the discovery learning model in the control class.
